“Participating in the 2025 GSSG Forum was a valuable learning experience, offering exposure to diverse perspectives on sustainability and trade of fisheries and aquaculture products. The discussions encouraged deeper reflection on policy, practice, and global coordination. Engaging with experts from different regions and highlighted the importance of collaboration in fostering sustainabilityin aquatic foods.”

“In 2024, I had the great honor of talking about Blue financing and our practical experience at Brim. The GSSG forum really understood that the finance market has developed a good understanding of fishing operations and were much more patient in their investments today, than a decade ago. Good collaboration between key players in this field, builds up trust and with it commitment to long term sustainable financing framework.”

“In 2025, the forum provided a platform to advance the dialogue on sustainability measurement in fisheries and aquaculture. I was inspired by the exchange of ideas, the shared challenges, and the collective vision in this space to move the sector toward more meaningful and measurable sustainability outcomes.”

“The need to establish synergies and the real possibility of finding solutions shaped the development of the GSSG 2024 Forum, which I was able to participate in. We go faster alone, but together we go further.”

It was an honour to join the GSSG 2024 in Vigo to discuss the different facets of sustainable seafood as viewed by large and smaller scale producers. The organisers created a blend of local business and global views, which sparked good discussion of how the future developments may look. Global seafood is still very dependent on small scale producers, whilst also being globally traded. As we all seek to improve ocean stewardship and deliver more sustainable seafood, we need to keep a balance across this dichotomy of scale.”
